She admitted that at first, she wasn’t prepared for the cultural differences that would come with their marriage. “I stayed in Pali Hill, and he was from Virar,” Sunita said, scrunching up her face to imply that Virar was not what she was used to. Despite the differences, Sunita eventually fell in love with Govinda, not knowing that she would marry him.

Their relationship wasn’t without its challenges, particularly when it came to clothing and lifestyle choices. Sunita shared that she transitioned from wearing miniskirts to sarees after marrying Govinda. “That’s why my husband used to hate me,” she said jokingly, adding that she often reminded him of their different upbringings. “I would tell him, ‘I’m from Bandra, you’re from Virar, boss.’ And he’d reply, ‘No, my mother won’t like it’.”

Sunita tied the knot with Govinda when she was just 18 years old. Within a year of their marriage, they welcomed their daughter, Tina. Sunita reflected on how young she was at the time and how quickly she became preoccupied with her responsibilities as a mother. Sunita also revealed that they kept their marriage a secret for the first year due to concerns that Govinda’s stardom might be affected. “There was a belief back then that a hero’s stardom could get damaged if he went off the market,” she explained.
